Star studded player line-up for this weekend’s All Africa Poker Tournament PDF Print E-mail
This weekend’s All Africa Poker Tournament (AAPT), hosted at Piggs Peak Hotel and Casino, Swaziland is set to be the biggest poker tournament of the year to date. Most of the biggest names in Southern Africa poker will be playing, including defending champ from November 2009, Ilija Martinovic, as well as Nicolas Zakhem, the May 2009 winner and Wessel Jacobs, who took the title at the August 2009 tournament.

However, if they want to emulate their success from last year they will have to beat out some stiff competition from big name players, like BLUFF SA player ranking leader Eugene du Plessis, Jay Sookoo, Rudolph Fourie, Ryan Brauer and David “Bozo” Rosenthal.

Other notable players attending the tournament in search of the R1 million first prize include Ray Rahme, Darren Kramer, David Dadic, Huawei Sun and Daniel Lamberti, amongst others. Both Warren Zackey and Bennie Lingenfelder have already notched up wins in 2010, so they will be looking to carry their form through to this weekend’s tournament. A full field is expected to be battling it out over the weekend for their share of the R3 million prize pool.

The AAPT structure is a R20,000 buy-in, gets players a starting stack of 10,000 chips. There are unlimited re-buys for the first four hours of the tournament and the one add-on will take place at the end of the re-buy period. Re-buys are R5,000 for 10,000 chips and the Add-on is R7,500 for 25,000 chips.

Play kicks off on Thursday 11 March 2010 at 20h00 and poker fans can follow all the action reported live on the All Africa Poker blog, including interviews with players . You can also track the action on the Twitter feed and get updated on all the latest happenings via Facebook.
